During the period of 1996-1999, Bruce Mau took on many other jobs such as a professor at Rice University School of Architecture (William Marsh Rice University) in Houston, a private research university. A thesis advisor at University of Toronto’s Faculty of Architecture, Landscape & Design; artist in residence at California Institute of the Arts and a visiting scholar at the Getty Research Institute in Lost Angeles.
